Counselling
Counselling could help you in a variety of life situations.
Understanding your situation
What is counselling?
Counselling is about working together to explore your issues and feelings at your pace, to enable you to gain more clarity and make sense of your situation.
I draw upon a variety of influences including:
- Person-centred Counselling
- Human Givens Psychotherapy
- Solution Focused Therapy
There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach within counselling and talking therapies because we are all unique and this integrated approach means that I work with you as an individual and the issues that you bring to therapy.
Counselling sessions
Counselling sessions are often suited to situations where you may be experiencing difficulties such as low self esteem, anxiety, relationship difficulties or bereavement.
Working with and resolving issues can often be achieved in a fairly short course of sessions and some issues may require longer term therapy. Often problems are resolved within short term therapy (12 sessions or less) and sessions are usually weekly, especially in the early stages.
The number of sessions required will depend on your individual situation and needs. A course of six sessions is often recommended in the first instance, followed by a review. We will discuss your situation and decide on the most appropriate therapy options at your first session.
